Why do I need an AdBlue tank on site?
Most modern diesel plant, trucks and generators use SCR emissions systems that require AdBlue, and they will derate or stop if it runs out. A dedicated on-site AdBlue tank lets you top up machines quickly from a clean, bunded supply rather than relying on small containers, keeping plant running and emissions compliant.
Can I store AdBlue in a normal diesel tank?
No. AdBlue is corrosive to many metals and is easily contaminated, so it must be stored in a tank made from compatible materials such as stainless steel or polyethylene with dedicated dispensing equipment. Even small amounts of diesel, oil or dirt can damage a vehicle’s SCR system, so never use diesel equipment for AdBlue.
Does AdBlue need protecting from the weather?
Yes. AdBlue degrades in high temperatures and direct sunlight and freezes at around minus 11 degrees, so the tank should be positioned out of direct sun where possible and, in winter, may need insulation or a heated option. Our team can advise on the best specification for your site and season.
