Scissor Lift Hire
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a scissor lift used for?
A scissor lift gives a safe, stable platform for working at height, maintenance, installation, fit-out, racking and steelwork among them. For most jobs that need vertical reach they’re quicker to set up and safer than ladders or scaffolding.
What height scissor lifts can you hire?
We hire platforms from a 5.6m Dingli up to 22m, taking in popular sizes such as Genie 7.8m, 10m and 11.5m, Skyjack 12m and 13.7m, and Dingli 16m, 18m and 19m. Bear in mind working height is about 2 metres above the platform height, so tell us how high you actually need to reach and we’ll spec the right machine.
Should I hire an electric or diesel scissor lift?
Electric lifts suit indoor and clean environments. They’re quiet, emission-free and run on non-marking tyres. Diesel lifts are built for outdoor work and rough ground where you need more power. If you’re working both inside and out, a bi-energy (hybrid) model covers both.
Can I use a scissor lift indoors?
Yes. Electric scissor lifts are made for it. They produce no fumes, non-marking tyres protect finished floors, and narrow models fit through standard doorways and aisles for indoor fit-out and maintenance.
Do I need training to use a scissor lift?
Working at height is regulated, so whoever uses the lift should hold a recognised qualification such as IPAF (category 3a for scissor lifts). Make sure whoever uses it is certified for the platform before you hire, and we’ll get the right machine to you.
How much weight can a scissor lift carry?
It varies by model, but most platforms carry between 230kg and 750kg, enough for one or two people plus tools and materials. Each machine is clearly marked with its safe working load, and we’ll confirm the capacity before you hire.
Can a scissor lift be used outdoors or on rough ground?
Yes. Diesel and rough terrain scissor lifts are designed for outdoor use, with the power and tyres to handle uneven or soft ground. Tell us about your site conditions and we’ll recommend a machine rated for them.
How quickly can you deliver a scissor lift?
It depends on your location and current availability. We coordinate delivery and collection through our supplier network, and can often help with urgent or time-critical jobs, subject to availability. Send us your site postcode and we’ll confirm a realistic delivery time.
Which areas do you cover?
We provide scissor lift hire nationwide across the UK. Send us your site postcode when you enquire and we’ll confirm availability and delivery.
