Frequently Asked Questions

What concreting, cutting and grinding equipment can I hire?

Our network covers floor saws, handheld disc cutters and cut-off saws, wall chasers, concrete grinders and planers, plus mixers, pokers and power floats for the pour itself. Tell us the task and we’ll put together the right kit.

What depth can a floor saw cut?

It depends on the blade and machine. A typical petrol floor saw with a 450mm to 500mm diamond blade cuts to roughly 150mm to 175mm deep in one pass, and larger road saws go deeper. For full-depth slab cutting tell us the thickness and we’ll match the saw and blade.

Should I cut concrete wet or dry?

Wet cutting is the norm for floor and slab work. Water cools the diamond blade, extends its life and suppresses the silica dust. Dry cutting suits short, quick cuts but needs M-class dust extraction to control the dust. We’ll supply the right blade and water feed or extractor for the method you’re using.

How do you control dust when cutting and grinding concrete?

Most floor saws run a water feed to damp the cut, and our concrete grinders and cut-off saws pair with M-class dust extraction units to capture fines at source. Controlling respirable silica is a legal requirement, so tell us where you’re working and we’ll include suitable suppression.

What diamond blades or discs do I need?

It comes down to the material. There are different diamond specs for cured concrete, reinforced concrete, asphalt, stone and block. Using the wrong blade is slow and wears it out fast. Tell us what you’re cutting and the depth, and we’ll supply the correct blade with the saw.

What’s the difference between a floor grinder and a floor saw?

A floor saw makes straight cuts through a slab, for expansion joints, trenches or lifting sections out. A floor grinder works the surface, taking off coatings, laitance or high spots and preparing concrete for screeds, resin or polishing. Many jobs use both, and we can supply single or multi-head grinders.

Do you hire equipment for laying concrete as well as cutting it?

Yes. Cement and forced-action mixers, poker vibrators, power floats and trowels are available for placing and finishing a pour. Tell us the volume and finish you’re after and we’ll spec the mixing and compaction kit to match.

Do you offer petrol, 110V and 3-phase power options?

Most cutting and grinding equipment comes in petrol for outdoor and off-grid work, 110V for site use through a transformer, and 3-phase for the larger grinders and saws. Let us know the power you have on site and we’ll supply a compatible machine.

How quickly can you deliver concrete cutting and grinding equipment?

It depends on your location and current availability. We coordinate delivery and collection through our supplier network, and can often help with urgent or time-critical jobs, subject to availability. Send us your site postcode and we’ll confirm a realistic delivery time.

Which areas do you cover?

We provide concreting equipment hire nationwide across the UK, from floor saws and cutters to grinders and mixers. Send us your site postcode when you enquire and we’ll confirm availability and delivery.

How do I get in touch?

The easiest way is through our contact page, where you can call or email us and the team will get straight back to you. We’re based in Croydon and arrange hire right across the UK, so wherever your site is, tell us what you need and we’ll sort the right kit and a price.
